How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

You should clean your brushes every two weeks, obviously the more you clean them the safer they are for use. Its easy for makeup brushes to pickup bacteria and that could be the reason why you continue to break out...eek!

There are brush cleaners out there but they can be pricey and I see them more fitting for professionals who constantly use makeup brushes and need a quick cleaning. For those of you who only use your brushes on a daily basis on yourself then I think this is a good at home way to clean your brushes ... and its cheap!

All you need is baby shampoo, a towel and a sink! Bam.

Pour baby shampoo into your hand

Wet brush under sink – this is very important: make sure you wet the brush as seen in the picture. If you do stick the brush straight under the faucet with the bristles straight up, this will result in water seeping into the bristles of the brush making them easier to fall out which is what you don't want.

Swirl brush in your hand. You will see all the makeup & colors start to come off!

Rinse your brush – again, make sure you do not put the brush under the sink bristle side up.

Squeeze out any excess water

Lay brushes off of a flat surface so they can dry while regaining their proper shape

I usually leave my brushes to dry overnight however large ones will take longer so make sure you give yourself enough time for them to dry.

This method of cleaning is super easy & so cheap! The travel sized version of shampoo is only $0.99 and has lasted me quite a while.

Do you have any other methods of cleaning your brushes?
